Create a Morning Checklist
Going back to school, whether it’s 2021 or any other year, requires creating a new routine and schedule for your entire family. When it comes to planning out your mornings — and making sure you can fit in everything you need — create a morning checklist. This sets expectations for your children and allows them to play an active role in getting ready for the school day.
Make this checklist interactive and have your child cross or check off items as they get them finished!

Communicate With Your Child
Whether this is your child’s first year going to preschool or they are starting kindergarten, take some time to talk with them about the school year. Remind them that it’s okay to ask for help, whether they have to go to the bathroom or aren’t sure what they are supposed to be doing.
When they get back from their first few days at school, ask them how it went and what you can do to help them feel confident and excited.

Communicate With Their Teacher
When your child begins preschool or kindergarten, it can be hard to get a lot of information from them about their day or what they’re learning. This is where communication with their teacher comes in. Collaborate with their teachers to see how you can continue to support them at home and to hear how they’re adjusting to school.

Encourage Them Academically & Socially
As your child learns new skills and ways to socialize with their peers, make sure you’re encouraging that growth. From incorporating the skills they’re learning to staying informed about their assignments and progress, this will help them continue developing different life skills — like empathy, creative problem solving, flexible thinking, teamwork, and more!
